Obituary "Barely Alive" w/ Psycroptic and Utilize the Remains
It's a hot, wet muggy Friday night, and where do we go? A hot wet muggy Galatos….
A three-punch assault from Florida Death metal legends Obituary, Tasmanias Psycroptic, and our own Dunedin-based Utilize The Remains, I’m surprised the floor at Galatos didn't cave in.
This is my first time hearing Utilize the Remains live, and to confuse the ears a Hio-hop track plays as introduction — followed quickly by a brutal assault ready to shake off any rain and replace it with the initial stages of human sweat.
It’s also the first show with their new drummer and guitarist — but you’d not notice it from the tight, cohesive, carnage from our Southern quartet.
Psychroptic — tight, punchy, chaotic, muff said.
Obituary — second time seeing these guys now, and they did NOT disappoint one bit. It was a relentless storm to challenge the worst of what Auckland was throwing down outside. I daresay Obituary not only take the crown as one of the best live death metal acts I’ve seen - but dayam they can DOOM when needed.
